E Readers

E books are electronic books and can be read on differen devices.  We are excited to use e books during our last novel unit of the year.  Are you using a device to read your novel electronically?  Tell us about your device and your experience so far.  What are the posititives and negatives so far?  If you do not own a device personally, what do you want to say about our experiment?

    I am not using my iPod to read,(thanks a lot mom!), but my device experience has been great. I have great graphics on my iPod too. I <3 iPods!!!!!!!!

    The posotives of having an E-book is that you dont have to worry about the book not being in the library or the amount of copys they have left. However not every one has an e-book.(like Me)

    I think it will be a good experiance to intergrate e books into the middle schools and possibly into the high schools but i understand that it could be a problemfor high schoolers. Back to the point, i think that having an e book in school is a good idea but that it should be moniterd closely, and that we should be able to have inetnet connection, but again i think that internet capabilities should be monetierd too due to the fact that some students do not do safe things on the internet.     i think a postive factor of having a ereader is that you have a book that is acutally yours and you can put notes on it without acutally having to write!

    I am not using an e-reader for this novel unit. But i think it is a good idea for the most part. You can do all the same things, maybe even better. All definitions if you need one are right there, in a click of a button. I think it is a good idea to usee-readers, i never thought of them being used in school before. I kinda want one now!

    i have a kindle and it is absolutely wonderful to read on. it has a lot of positives including: you can mark the text easily with no sticky notes/wasted paper,its a lot easier to read because you can change the text size to suit your needs,you can also look up any word in the dictionary by moving the cursor to it, and the feature witch allows you to listen to the books is nice to. a couple disadvantages are that it costs money to get the books but they will last as long as your device,another disadvantage is that you have to be able to bring your device to school every day if it gets damaged somehow you won't have a book. i belive the experiment is worth while because if it works we might get kindles/other e-readers in the classroom fulltime.

    i will be using a ipod touch but right now i am reading a regular book. i think it is a good idea to use ereaders because it will save trees and it will be easyer to mark the text.

    Dear Mrs.Obrain i think that e books are a great way to learn in the class room. Since it is teachnoagy kids are interested in it. Also the e books save the enviorment from cole stafford

    i think it is a good thing because if you bring an e-reader you can read any book you want to read but the only down side is it cost like ten dollars to buy the book on the ipod touch but other wise I like them and that we are aloud too bring them and use them. BY SIMON

    Well you guys are'nt going to believe this but my dad was nice enouph to let me bring, are you ready 4 this, his IPAD to school instead of e readers, nooks and kindels. but i'm only allowed to bring it on wendsdays.:(

    I think it is cool to read on my ipod! One positive thing about it is you can highlight words, use the dictonary and make notes and it is all right there all you have to do is cliclk the word twice! But you have to remeber to keep it charged.

    I am not using an electronic device, but I have an iPod and I think it would be a great idea to use them to read books in class. It lets people be in whatever reading group they want because there are no paperback limits.

    i think that the e reader is a grate reading sorce but i like just plane old books it's less expensiv and there's less to wory about if you miplace it. Shure the e reader may br beter for the forist and stuff but the book dosent cost an electric bill jarod b. block 2

    I am not using a e reader but I'm aloud to I just would rather use a book instead incase I drop the ipod but i think its a good idea if you have a good case for your e reader.

    I have a kindle and i have been using it to read during study hall and such. we should be using them. E-readers Rock! i hope we can find balence between the kindle/nooks and the ipads and ipods. Timmy period 3

    i love reading on my iphone cuz it is fun to read now and i can pay attention to the book more i hated reading on paperback books but now i have my iphone and i love reading on it. Thx mrs OB!!!!!!!!!!!

    My family has an ipad (technically my mom's...) and it would be pretty good to use a e-reader, so my books dont abandon me. (i mean YOU, time windows!!!!!!) so....... yeah :D

    @ Cris F. ummm noooo. Books are NOT crappy. Ereaders are just a tool to use so that you dont always have to carry around a book. Plus they save trees. Books are great though. They come in handy, and are less expensive.
    I love reading books on iPods and e readers and I like reading books to. But I am all about saving the environment :) so technolegy is a very good resource

    Hey!
    Kyle A. from 6th block. I am on both sides of having an ereader. I would like to read off my ipod because it's a lot more portable than a real book. On the other hand, what if the ereader breaks? What if you lose it when you have a bunch of other apps to play with if it's an ipod? I'M NOT SURE!!!

    I was going to bring my Ipod touch in to read my book, I have good eyes, but my mother says it would be way to hard to read it on that screen but i go on websites on it and it's easy to read on it

    I like the idea of using a E-reader. It's a good way for to use technology and it's also a good way to save/help the trees and enviroment. I have one and I think it's an amazing way to use it. I would bring it to school but i broke my last one. But I might bring it to school. But, I think next year, everyone shold get one/ or borrow one cause it's a gopod way for us to learn new things and it's a good way for us to save/ help the enviroment and trees.

    i think that if you have an e-reader or an i-pad, i-pod, i-phone or whatever, its more conveinent cause like i always have my i-phone with me so ican read whatever or whenever i want to i finish the quarter when i need to.

    I think hard copies are the best acctually. You can do things old-style and it is more efficient, because it is easier to go back in the text. You also won't ALWAYS have an electronic in hand. People are too dependent now adays. I do think though, that Fiona is right because with IPOD's you don't require sticky notes or notebook pages to mark the text. You can highight and scroll through the book to refind what you highlighted.

    it stnks but i think that just useing the regular books are better b/c they are like..... they wont hurt ur eyes after a while....

    I think that the ereader is a good source because we do ot have to use the paperback books and we can read it electronivly than just reading it on paper.

    I dis agree with Alexis from 7th block I know I already posted and I read more and I found her comment .Idisagree because you can highlite and put bookmarks in the boook. plus there is a builtin dictonary.I don't mean to be meen but books are expensive.some books cost lots of mone unlike a ereader cause some are free even.(ibooks has 100s of free books not joking literally).

    i didn't want to to bring in my ipad because -one i don't want to waste money on a book to read once 4 only 4 weeks AND SOME PEOPLE LIKE THE OLDEN DAY BOOKS!
