Our Mohican trip is a great time! It is basically a 48 hour trip. The cabins are comfortable and the food is good. The classes are cool and it is fun to spend time with classmates.

What questions do you have about Mohican?
What if you fall and get hurt?
ReplyDeleteI HAVE A QUESTION!!!! How are we going to go? By science class or homeroom?
ReplyDeleteTeeheehee Emily F. Period 2
i dont want to go anymore. u have to wear boots and jeans and a bunch of stuff i really dont want to wear.
ReplyDeleteStephen h. 2
Hey everybody, do you dig, starting rumors like being a pig. They they are sayin this while they were say that, by the end your mind is SPLAT!!!!
ReplyDeleteReally don't believe the rumors.
P.S. Mrs kiaser knows all.:)

ReplyDeleteCan we bring cameras? If we re will they get wet?
ReplyDeleteMaddie 2nd block
I am soooooo excited to go to Mohican!!!! I have 1 question are we aloud to bring our iPods with a camera on it??????
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be sweet, i've always wanted to go camping. Its going to be like a huge sleepover.
ReplyDeleteI hate that we have to wear boots and jeans
ReplyDeleteLet me answer some of these questions.
ReplyDelete1. If you get hurt we will take care of you. Our role as teachers is basically that of caregivers and supervisors. We'll take good care of you!
2.We go by homeroom. Monday-Wednesday is Steirer, Elias, O'Brien, Kaplack, Stefanko. Wednesday-Friday is Coreno, Marsala, Kaiser, Bartolotta, Scalia.
Yes, you must wear jeans. No, you cannot wear shorts. It will be March. We will be outside for most of the time. You will have more fun if you are dry and warm.
ReplyDeleteYou must wear boots. We will be hiking behind a waterfall, making survival forts, and getting good and dirty! Wear old clothes and old boots.
Do not bring any valuable electronics. Many times they get wet, dropped in the mud, or lost.
ReplyDeleteNo cell phones. There is hardly any service anyway. We are seriously gone so little time. You'll be okay!
We are at Mohican for 1/2 the day on Monday, the whole day Tuesday, then we get up and go home on Wednesday. OR...
You might be there at the end of the week. So 1/2 the day on Wednesday, all of Thursday, get up and come home on Friday.
I do not want to wear boots eathier, but we are going to have a fun time=) I hope I am with my friends! Timmy 3rd period p.s.thank you for the info mrs.ob
ReplyDeletei have a ipod with a camera with a video and camera app and i never play the aopps on it r we aloud to bring tht
ReplyDeletecan you still sign up for Mohican if you didn't get the chance to sign up before?

How do we know what dorm we're going to be in? Is it by home- rooms?
ReplyDeleteKyle A.: Block 6
I have to agree with Stephen. I don't have like half the stuff on the list
ReplyDeleteKyle A.: 6 Block
omg i cant wait for mochian it sounds so interesting
ReplyDeletebut why do we have to get muddy!?
especially going behind the water fall!
its sounds more like a disney resort than a school field trip.
counting down the days now!:)
also wow stephen it sounds like if you do go, you will be roughing it!
elizabeth s. 6
Kyle-- teachers will sit together one day and divide the students into the two boy dorms and two girl dorms.
ReplyDeleteKeep in mind the list of things to bring is a suggested list. You don't necessarily need a shower cap. However, you do need jeans, boots, gloves, coats, etc.
How many bunks are in each dorm?
ReplyDeleteKyle A.: 6 block
Elizabeth-- usually the kids who get the muddiest have the most fun. No? I'm sure you'll be able to have some clean fun too.
ReplyDeletegot it Mrs. O'Brien. Thanks a lot!!!
ReplyDeleteKyle A.: 6 Block
are we aloud to wear snow boots or do th\ey have to be like gardening boots?
ReplyDeleteelizbeth s. 6
I'm excited for mohican Trip but some people are saying you aren't allowed to bunk with who you want too. Is that true? :)
ReplyDeleteSarah W. 6th <")penguin..ha :)

ReplyDeleteGarrett G. 6th blaock
Kyle-- I don't quite remember how many bunks. Maybe 25-30 beds? And then about 12-15 toilets and 12-15 showers. I think.
ReplyDeleteYay! Mud! :) and do we really get the play with goats!?!
ReplyDeleteis it to late to turn in slips to go?
ReplyDeletetommy block 6
but what if we already had plans with our friends to share a bunk?
ReplyDeleteelizabeth s. 6
do we get 2 pick how we bunk with or does someone else and i still dont want 2 were boots
ReplyDeleteGarrett G. 6th block
Garrett-- You should wear either hiking boots or winter boots that are as water proof and warm as possible. No electronics.
ReplyDeleteare the people nice there?
ReplyDeletetommy block 6
WOW! That is a ton. This sounds like a lot of fun... except for the boots and raincoat type stuff youn might need. Hahaha!
ReplyDeleteKyle A.: 6 Block
Sara W-- the teachers will divide the girls in half. There are two girl dorms. Then, once you get there, you can pick any bed you want. Be sure to grab one near your friends, or be open to making new friends:)
ReplyDeleteBUT Y CANT WE USE ELECTRONICS
ReplyDeleteGARRERTT G. 6th block
is there a time we have to wake up
ReplyDeletebecause at kelleys island we had to get up at like 7;00
I know an 8th grader who told me to sleep on the bottom bunk because the way they wake you up in the morning is they turn on the lights, so if you sleep on the bottom bunk it's not as bright.
ReplyDelete-matt h block 6
i am really excited for mochican, i think it will be really fun, the only thing is i dont have any boots other that uggs so i will have to buy some, the other thing is i want to bring a camera, i might just bring a disposible one so i dont get my digital one wet or lost or broken.

Teachers also assign students to "jobs" or chores to be done while we are there. Remember that if you don't want me to assign you to cleaning toilets that I am partial to Twizzlers. :)

ReplyDeleteSome homerooms go to Mohican Monday, March 7- Wednesday, March 9. By the time we get there on Monday, we really only have a half day on Monday, the whole day on Tuesday, then we get up and come home on Wednesday.
Other homerooms go Wednesday, March 9-Friday, March 11. Two nights, two half days and one whole day.
We are taking a lot of kids with us to Mohican. Kids are messy. So you need to help clean up after yourselves. Chores are usually simple like set the table or sweep after a meal. If you're lucky you will get feed the animals.
ReplyDeleteSo atleast we get to choose who we bunk with so..IM a happy little girl :) ha.
ReplyDeleteSarah W.6th P.S tell Taylor B. I saw Hi :) Shes in ur class 7th

ReplyDeleteHello all! No electronics are permitted at Mohican. This includes cell phones with cameras. We recommend purchasing a cheap, disposable camera. Mr. Wise

gabby! 7th
I am so excited to go to Mohigan! I love getting down and dirty! It's awesome. Before we used to start soccer games we would have to roll in the mud so we can get used to it and right after the game (we pretty much always won) we would go "mud sliding" and go run and slide in a ditch to the end of our muddy soccer fields. So yeah! I like jeans and boots too. I am so wearing a pair of my cow girl boots. Sooooo uh huh. O and the waterfall sounds really fun and a lot more so ya!

Meals are served 'family style.' This means that a food hopper will go get large platters of food. You take only what you are going to eat. We weight the food waste. We have a contest as to who can waste the least food.
ReplyDeleteFood is regular food. Scrambled eggs or french toast, etc for breakfast. Actually they consider the noon meal the main meal so that is a big meal. In the past we have had meals like ham and scalloped potatoes, hamburgers and chips. There is always dessert. If you don't like the meal, you can go to the salad bar. If you have food allergies, please let us know ahead of time. If you are vegan, please let us know ahead of time.
Also, you can buy snacks. Be sure to deposit some spending money before we go to buy snacks and drinks.

Please go to my "links and files" sub page from my web page. Look under 'February.' You can access an informational power point about Mohican there. Mohican Outdoor School does have their own web page. They can also be found on Facebook. Check them out!
ReplyDeleteYeah, i am with Holly L there.do we get to pick who we share a bunk with? cuz i really want to share one with someone that i at least know!!!
ReplyDeleteJenna R Period 6
I look forward to spending some time hiking with you at Mohican School of the Outdoors. Someone said above that this is a resort. We will not be at the state park, rather a nice outdoor school. Students will sleep in nice dorms and eat in a beautiful lodge overlooking the surrounding woods. If we are lucky we may see some deer, hear owls, or see other wild life. As Mrs. O'brien said, teachers will randomly place you in the dorms, jobs, tribes, tables etc. One tip I can give you is to get plenty of sleep the first night there. You will be glad that you did the next day when we are hiking. I also suggest that you bring inexpensive cameras just in case they get lost or dropped. One final thought, label all your belongings especially your luggage/sleeping bags... If you can make your items stand out amongst everyone else's, it will be much easier to find your belongings when we return to school. I'll keep checking and reading your blog
ReplyDeleteHow many people are in one cabin? Do we get to pick who we bunk with? How long are the classes? How long are the breaks? Will there be a teacher in our cabin?

ReplyDeleteI am glad to hear that everyone is excited about going to Mohican. I know some of you are not happy that you may not bring electronics or cell phones, but you really won't even have time to use them. We will be very busy all day and night. You will survive without your Ipods and cell phones for 3 days:) As for wearing boots all day, once you get there you will understand why boots must be worn there. We will be outdoors quite a bit.
ReplyDeleteWhoever wrote don't believe rumors, you are right. And thanks for thinking that I know all. I am not know all, but I will try to answer your questions.

ReplyDeleteAlorra T.
Do you know where the resortfor mohican is. And the people out there who say that you don't want to where boots you will have to deal with it because we will be outside for a long time and when you have shorts on and when you get dirty and when it sets for a long time then it will stick to you and it will be very hard to get off your legs.
ReplyDeleteCorey S. 7 Period
Greetings Mrs. O'Brien and Class!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like the annual trip to Mohican is right around the corner. What an exciting time you will all have! And from the questions, it seems like most of the students are very excited. What a great group of students to go on a great trip. I hope it is a positive, memorable experience for all of you. I look forward to reading posts after the trip to hear about the best parts of the trip. I hope everyone is doing well in the 6th grade and I miss you all!!!
